For the past 5 years, I’ve competed in speech & debate almost exclusively in parliamentary debate. Some quick statistics about my high school debate career:

  • Ranked #5 in the nation in 2022
  • Quarterfinalist at the Tournament of Champions (2022), 3x Qualifier, & 2x Top 10 Speaker
  • State Champion of Parliamentary Debate (2022) & 2x Qualifier
  • Finalist at the National Parliamentary Debate Invitational (2022) & Cal Parli Invitational (2020)
  • Semifinalist at Claremont Invitational (2022), Berkeley HS (2022), Stephen Stewart Invitational (2021), NPDL Fall Invitational (2021)
  • Quarterfinalist at Polygon Invitational (2021), Cal Parli (2021), NPDL Fall (2022)

As a debater, I competed in lay and tech tournaments alike, preferring to read fewer and well-warranted arguments as opposed to multiple blips. I was primarily 1st/3rd speaker on both the aff & neg, meaning I focused on weighing both sides of the debate and collapsing to key voter issues by the end of the debate. Within tech debate, I read arguments on gender/feminism, futurism, racial history, and cap/neolib. A full breakdown of my paradigm can be found here.

As a coach, I believe in cultivating an educational & fun debate space to learn about real-world events and gain insight from multiple perspectives. I approach teaching with compassion and dedication towards seeing students succeed; by putting in the time each week to improve and learning from their mistakes, they can go very far. I am here to guide them to think more deeply about policymaking, become more efficient & organized with their speeches, and gain the substantive skills of round vision.

To do this, I offer a free 30-minute consultation where to gather a sense of where you are in your debate journey and what key areas of improvement are. From there, I build a curriculum plan tailored to each student, with each class covering certain skills in parli complete with drills to practice them and test your knowledge. We would also review past tournaments’ ballots to identify common areas of error and work on improving those with extra practice. Each class is 60 minutes long and is offered per person or in a group. If you are interested in coaching for yourself or another student, please fill out the form below and I will get back to you within a week. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me as well. Thank you!
